These paintings show a development of my still life painting practice. All of these works are painted from life. The process of painting from life, spending countless hours observing light revealing form is a meditative experience. This requires slow looking and slow thinking. It is an exploration of the visual experience through careful observation and translating this experience with mixtures of paint of a surface. This process of observation reveals in one an appreciation for simple experience, for connection to materials and physicality, at times transcending the physical.
